The first thing that stands out is the low weight of only 79 gr (including battery). In combination with a comfortable fit, it sits well on the head without slipping or feeling uncomfortable. Other clever features include a rechargeable battery with built-in micro USB port and a carrying case with which the lamp can be converted into a lantern (see photos). We have long and far searched for alternative headlamps, but ultimately there is currently no way around the Petzl IKO® CORE.

In standard mode, the lamp shines with 100 lumens (9 hours burn time), but in Max Power mode with 500 lumens can illuminate even the darkest and most technical trails (2:30 hours burn time). Multiple LEDs allow for even light distribution for optimal viewing comfort. The lamp comes with the CORE battery, but thanks to its HYBRID CONCEPT, it can also be powered by three AAA/LR03 batteries (not included). With AAA batteries, the Max Power mode automatically adjusts to 350 lumens. Therefore, we recommend a handy CORE battery for backup.
