MAURTEN Gel 160
- Free of colorings or preservatives
- Fructose to glucose ratio of 0.8:1
- A 65 gram gel contains 160 kcal and 40 grams of carbohydrates
- 80 mg salt per gel
In terms of taste, the Maurten Gels are rather neutral because no additives or flavorings are used. This is supposed to guarantee better stomach tolerance. We would describe the gels as neutral to sweet. The consistency is more like jelly and can be taken without water.
This large version of the hydrogel is particularly useful for athletes who want to consume 60-90 grams of carbohydrates per hour. Here the requirements can be covered either with 2 gels or one gel in combination with a sports drink. A welcome addition to the Maurten product range, especially for long distance and ultra running.

About Maurten
Said Mårten had the idea that with new technology it should be possible to ensure higher energy intake through sports nutrition. The project quickly raised the interest of the sports elite and was used for the first time under competitive conditions by Kenenisa Bekele at the Berlin Marathon in 2016. Bekele won the race and improved his best time by 2 minutes. The list of elite athletes has grown steadily since then and includes world record holders and world champions in almost all endurance disciplines, especially running, cycling and triathlon.
