Sportswear & Equipment can be returned or exchanged within 30 days as long as the products have only been tried on but not used. As a hygiene item, underwear cannot be exchanged once the packaging has been opened. We ask that send the products to the following address:

The Maurten Bicarb System includes a mixing bowl (Component A), powder for mixing the hydrogel (Component B), and sodium bicarbonate mini-tablets (Component C).

How to use: Mix Component B with 200 ml of water until a smooth mixture forms. Allow to rest for 5 minutes. Component C can then be added. Stir gently and consume immediately. The mixture should not be chewed or taken on an empty stomach. Take 1.5–2 hours before intense exercise.

The system is available in five different strengths, based on your body weight and experience with Maurten Bicarb. Use the guide at the bottom of the page to find the right version for you.

Sodium bicarbonate is one of the most extensively researched compounds in endurance and sprint sports science. This naturally occurring buffering agent is used before high-intensity efforts where rising lactate levels become the limiting factor.

Pure sodium bicarbonate can cause gastrointestinal discomfort in high quantities. The Maurten Bicarb System was developed to deliver the active ingredient via a hydrogel carrier system for controlled release and improved gastric tolerance.

Important notes: This product should not be used by anyone under 18 years of age. High salt content. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Use no more than twice per week. Store at room temperature.

About Maurten

First things first: Maurten is pronounced like "Morten." The company is named after Mårten, a triathlete and family friend of founder and entrepreneur Olof Sköld. The spelling "Maurten" simply came about because morten.com was already taken.

Mårten had the idea that it should be possible, with new technology, to ensure a higher energy supply through sports nutrition. The project quickly attracted the interest of elite athletes and was first used in competition by Kenenisa Bekele during the Berlin Marathon in 2016. Bekele won the race and improved his personal best by two minutes. Since then, the list of elite athletes using Maurten has steadily grown, including world record holders and champions in nearly all endurance disciplines, particularly in running, cycling, and triathlon.
