About Maurten

First things first: Maurten is pronounced like "Morten." The company is named after Mårten, a triathlete and family friend of founder and entrepreneur Olof Sköld. The spelling "Maurten" simply came about because morten.com was already taken.

Mårten had the idea that it should be possible, with new technology, to ensure a higher energy supply through sports nutrition. The project quickly attracted the interest of elite athletes and was first used in competition by Kenenisa Bekele during the Berlin Marathon in 2016. Bekele won the race and improved his personal best by two minutes. Since then, the list of elite athletes using Maurten has steadily grown, including world record holders and champions in nearly all endurance disciplines, particularly in running, cycling, and triathlon.
