At Sporthunger, our primary focus revolves around macronutrients like proteins, fats, and especially carbohydrates, which serve as the essential fuel for intense runs. However, micronutrients also play a crucial role in maintaining overall health. Despite not providing energy directly, they are involved in numerous vital processes and serve specific functions within the body. Since most micronutrients cannot be produced by the body and are only stored in limited amounts, they must be regularly consumed through our diet.

Former rugby player Damien Fitzpatrick has dedicated himself to exploring these micronutrients. Throughout his professional career, Damien encountered several injury setbacks that prompted him to investigate the impact of extreme physical demands on his body. One of his key realizations was that athletes often prioritize macronutrients, potentially overlooking the importance of micronutrients. Following his retirement from competitive sports, Damien embarked on a mission to develop a line of sports-specific micronutrients tailored to the needs of high-performance athletes. This endeavor quickly gave rise to the brand Pillar Performance.

The first and currently most popular product was Triple Magnesium, a powder diluted with water that contains three selected forms of highly absorbable magnesium. Its objective is to aid recovery and enhance sleep quality. Magnesium is traditionally used to support recovery post-physical activity, alleviating muscle soreness and cramps, and is pivotal in essential biochemical processes. Its usage is straightforward: adults consume one scoop daily with 200 - 250 ml of water, taken 30-60 minutes before bedtime. Available flavors include Pineapple & Coconut and Natural Berry, with the former providing a tropical taste akin to Pina Colada.

Sleep is often underestimated in its impact on a successful and enduring "runner's career." The logic is simple: better recovery means quicker readiness to perform again. Even a small 1-2% improvement in each training session can accumulate over time. In addition to maintaining adequate intake of macronutrients and micronutrients, optimizing sleep hygiene can also be beneficial. This involves improving behaviors and environmental conditions that promote restful sleep.

A high training load often translates into high stress levels on our bodies, which can weaken the immune system. This is where Ultra Immune C is formulated with a blend of Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, and Zinc, aimed at bolstering the immune system and mitigating the duration and intensity of cold symptoms. Pillar stays true to its flavors, presenting it in a refreshing Tropical variant.

As always, remember that supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet. If you suspect a specific nutrient deficiency, we recommend consulting a doctor who may conduct further tests to determine the cause. Pillar products have not only made their mark in professional sports but also garnered a following among many of our customers. Whether micronutrients are the key to success is something you'll need to discover for yourself. In that spirit: Stay hungry.
Yours, Jonas & Florian.
